ICE SKATING

St Anton does have an ice skating rink, but I’m here to tell you about wild ice skating on the absolutely glorious Piburger See. This natural frozen lake is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, it's so stunning it feels like it's straight out of a Disney film. The ice rink is huge (1.5km long) and the best of all, this natural facility is absolutely free.
WHEN: Daily, from 10:00 – 16:30 conditions dependant.
COST: Ice skates €5 to hire.
The only catch is that Piburger See is a 50 minute drive away, however if you are looking for something different to do, it really is worth it.

GO TO THE TOP

The highest point in St Anton is the Valluga mountain at 2,811 metres, where you will find the most stunning views. From here you can see the mountain peaks of 4 countries, from the surrounding mountains in Austria, to Italy in the South, Switzerland in the west and Germany to the north. It’s a must visit.

To get there a pedestrian lift pass costs €41.00 – but you could make a whole day of it by stopping along the way in some of the fantastic bars and restaurants.
