New Year’s Eve in St Anton – An insider’s guide

Is there a better place to spend the New Year than in St Anton? We certainly don’t think so.

This amazing resort offers so many New Year’s experiences, from dancing the night away at the huge open air laser show, to filling your lungs with fresh mountain air on the quiet slopes of New Years morning. If you’re after a lively skiing holiday full of drinking, dancing and fun on the slopes, then look no further.

Our blog will unpick all of St Anton’s New Year’s secrets…

Laser Show & Street Party by St Anton Illuminated

The headline event in St Anton’s New Years Eve line up, is the amazing laser, music and street party, hosted by St Anton Illuminated. Crowds gather in the village centre, where outside drinks vendors help get everyone in the mood, and then at 11:30 house music pumps out of speakers, smoke fills the square, and lasers beam over-head. A huge countdown sees the arrival of the New Year, and with it a massive sense of togetherness and the streets are filled with revellers dancing the night away.

The show is always themed, and always with a focus on improving our world; it’s a philanthropic event, funded and promoted by local businesses who donate proceeds to charity, heavily promoting the environment with their anti-firework stance.

We genuinely think it’s excellent and recommend it for adults looking for a party, and families alike with the earlier “family show” starting at 20:00

Raffl’s Hotel

New Year in St Anton wouldn’t be New Year without Raffl’s Hotel. Controversially they ignore St Anton’s environmental no-fireworks position, by hosting the biggest firework show you’re likely to see outside of a city. The display cannot be missed from any location in St Anton, and whatever your stance on the Hotels’ disregard for the rules, I guarantee that you will stand-still in your tracks in awe of the fireworks which spectacularly light up the mountains.

If you are feeling like a real splurge, why not join Raffl’s New Year’s Eve Party at the St Antonerhof? The champagne reception & canapés, 7 course dinner, entertainment by a live band, late night snack and private viewing of the fireworks, will only set you back €555 per person. Bargain?

Café Schneider:

You’ve heard us talk about Café Schneider before; located in the very centre of town, it offers delicious food, great cocktails, and a brilliant atmosphere. Well, it turns out they also know how to throw a party! This ticketed event provides you with an amazing 5-course dinner as well as a welcome drink, and re-entry after the laser show at midnight. The post 12pm party sees the restaurant transformed into a bar, complete with smoke machines, disco balls and drinks on tap, so you can dance the night away.
22/23 price: €100.00

Anthony’s Happy Valley Steakhouse

The Anthony’s New Year Party has been an institution in St Anton for the last 10 years or so. Kicking off at 18:30, guests will enjoy a 7-course gala menu, before moving up to the Hotel Rooftop at 23:30. Here you’ll be welcomed with a glass of prosecco to see in the New Year with the best views in town of the laser and firework displays. If you are still wanting more, you can make your way back down to the bar, to party until the early hours of the morning.

22/23 price: €184.90 per adult / €84.90 per child

Here for the party only?

OK, so these lavish tasting menus aren’t for everyone. So if you’re here for the party only, you can still gain entry to some bars after the clock strikes 12, here is what we recommend. Please note that all of these bars will still be ticketed on NYE, so make your decision and purchase your tickets early.

  • Murrmel: With a live a band in the upstairs bar, and a DJ into the early hours of the morning in the cellar club, Murrmel guarantees to be pumping! Great service & great music
  • Q-Club: You’d expect to find this super cool sushi bar and club hidden on an exclusive Mayfair street, rather than St Anton. Modern and chic, with the slogan ‘taste the night’, Q Club serves sushi and then turns into a cool nightclub at the weekends.
  • Anthony’s Happy Valley: This bar restaurant throws a party most nights, and NYE is no exception. You can enter from 00:30, where you will find live music (and a lot of people!)

The day after at the Hospiz Alm

The Hospiz Alm like to be a little different, so instead of throwing their party on NYE, you'll find the party here on the 1st January, and let me tell you, it's the place to be!
A phenomenal 7-piece band has been playing at this event for years, positioned right in the centre of the restaurant, they really bring the party! They start their set at lunch time and depending on how the mood takes them, continue long into the evening. Guests will guzzle delicious red wine from the Hospiz's famous wine cellar (it's home to the largest collection of big-bottled Bordeaux wines in the world, find out more in our 'Where to eat' blog. ) and dance the night away. What time the party ends is really up to the infamous head sommelier Karl-Heinz... but can you keep up?
This is an exclusive event, with tables reserved for the same guests year after year. To get involved you must book well in advance (and we're talking years, not months!)

What about the Skiing?

What could be better than welcoming in the New year than on the slopes? Clear away those cobwebs from the night before with fresh mountain air. With 305km of marked pistes, you can ride from first to last lifts, feeling smug to know that you caught first lifts on the first day of the year!

Getting up early is our top tip. Whilst everyone else if laying in bed and recovering from the night before, you can be the early bird who catches the worm, and enjoy beautiful empty corduroy pistes. Now that’s what it’s all about. Heaven!

We still have New Years week available at Wunderbar Lodge, so if i've persuaded you that St Anton is the place to be, book now.

I look forward to seeing you on the slopes.
