One of St Anton's many appeals, is it's proximity to multiple airports and easy transfer methods. This means that guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to travel, however so much choice can make planning confusing.

Innsbruck's stunning mountain scenery

INNSBRUCK (Austria)

By far the closest and easiest Airport to arrive into is Innsbruck. Over the years it has dramatically increased it’s flight schedule, with more airplanes arriving from more destinations with more airlines. As such, prices have dropped meaning Innsbruck is no longer only for luxury travel.

- Train transfer time: 75 minutes (plus 20 minutes travel to the train station)

Transfers from Innsbruck

Taxi:
Taxi transfers are by far the easiest way to reach St Anton, with the 95km journey taking only 65 minutes. With increasing fuel prices, transfer companies are still working out their 22/23 prices, however you can expect a one-way transfer to cost roughly €200 for 1-3 passengers or €220 for 4-8 passengers.

Train:
Unlike most resorts, St Anton has a train station, which is conveniently located in the centre of the village. This makes train transfers a doddle. Trains leave Innsbruck main-station every 2 hours arriving directly into St Anton 75 minutes later. At the time of writing, tickets cost €18.80 one way. To reach the main station in Innsbruck, simply catch the airport shuttle bus. This departs every 15 minutes, costing roughly €2 and taking 20 minutes.
Purchasing your train ticket is also incredibly easy, we recommend purchasing either on the train or in the ticket machine at the station (this won’t cost you more and protects you against delays), or alternatively it can be done in advance online with OEBB.

Bus:
There are no options for coach or bus transfers from Innsbruck

ZURICH (Switzerland)

If you can’t fly into Innsbruck, then Zurich is the next best thing. It’s a huge airport flying to 137 destinations, including the Americas, Australia, Asia and beyond. Therefore if you are travelling from outside of Europe, we recommend this airport as your first port of call.

- Train transfer time: 2 hours 45 minutes (with one change at Zurich main station)

Who flies to Zurich?

The list is far too long for us to list, but from the UK you could fly with British Airways, Swiss Air, Easyjet and Edelweiss on most days of the week. From The Netherlands flights typically depart from Amsterdam with KLM or Swiss.

Taxi:
Taking roughly 2 hours 15 minutes, a one-way transfer for the 22/23 season will cost roughly €380 for 1-3 passengers or €420 for 4-8 passengers. (Please note the changeable cost of fuel, so these prices will fluctuate).

Train:
The journey from Zurich to St Anton is absolutely stunning, hugging the banks of two of Switzerland’s great lakes. (When leaving Zurich, sit on the left for the best views). First take a train from the airport to Zurich main station, these leave every few minutes, with a journey time of only 10. From Zurich main station, the train to St Anton departs every 2 hours, and takes 2 hours 20 minutes. The whole journey costs only €50.00, making it a far more affordable mode of transport for small groups.
One word of warning, the last train departs Zurich main station at 20:15, so we only recommend this options for those landing in Zurich by 18:45 (at the latest). On your return journey from St Anton, the first train to Zurich arrives at the airport just before 10:00, so if your departing flight is before 11:30, this again isn’t the transfer option for you.
We recommend purchasing your ticket on the day of travel in the ticket office or ticket machine. This protects you against airline delays as pre-bought tickets are none refundable. For timetables and advanced purchases visit OEBB.

Bus:
The Arlberg Express is a coach service, taking guests directly into St Anton. Priced at €110 for a round trip, it is slightly more expensive than taking the train, and takes slightly longer, but the benefit is that passengers don’t need to carry their luggage around a station or change trains. For families with children, this method could be for you as children born after 2011 cost half price. The 22/23 timetable is follows:

MUNICH (Germany)

We wouldn’t recommend Munich as our first choice airport, however as the second largest airport in Germany, it offers a huge variety of choice. The transfer is long, but the cheap flight prices could make it worth looking into.

- Train transfer time: 3 hours 50 minutes (with two changes at Munich main station & Innsbruck)

Who flies to Munich?

With 2 terminals, Munich has destinations across the globe. From the UK there are flights daily from multiple airports, with EasyJet, British Airways and Lufthansa.

The 3 hour journey will cost roughly €480 each-way for 1-3 passengers, or for 4-8 passengers €500. (Please note the current changeable cost of fuel makes it difficult to accurately quote). Train:
Taking the train dramatically cuts the price of your transfer, with the 3 hours 50 minute journey costing €69.00. There are 3 stages to the journey; firstly it's the airport shuttle to Munich East in roughly 30 minutes, then it's onto Innsbruck in 1.5 hours, and finally the last connection into St Anton taking 75 minutes.
Please note that unlike Austrian & Swiss railways, paying on the train results in a fine. Therefore either purchase your tickets at the station or online in advance. For timetables and advanced purchases visit OEBB.

Bus:
There are no transfer options via coach or bus from Munich airport.

FRIEDRICHSHAFEN (Germany)

Friedrichshafen airport (also known as Bodensee) is located in Germany and well off the beaten track. However it does offer cheap flight options from London Gatwick, hence it’s inclusion in the list. So if the price is right and you are happy to take a transfer via taxi, it might be worth looking into .

- Train transfer time: 3.5 – 4.5 hours (with three or four changes)

Who flies to Friedrichshafen?

Easyjet flies to Friedrichshafen every Saturday from Gatwick.

Taking roughly 3 hours, a one-way journey for 1-3 passengers will cost €260, or for 4-8 passengers €300. (Please note the current changeable cost of fuel makes it difficult to accurately predict this far in advance).

Train:
We don’t recommend this transfer via train as involves multiple changes and takes more than double the time of a taxi. However if you have an early flight and enjoy train travel, you could reach to St Anton for an unbeatable price. For timetables and advanced purchases visit OEBB.

Bus:
There are no transfer options via coach or bus from Friedrichshafen airport.

MEMMINGEN (Germany)

The final airport on our list, is the little known Memmingen in Germany. It is a tiny airport serviced by low cost airlines Ryanair and Wizz Air. It's somewhat of an awkward transfer, so much like Friedrichshafen, we only recommend this airport if your flights are particularly cheap.

Who flies to Memmingen?

Ryanair flies to Memmingen from:
- London Stansted – Almost daily (schedule changes throughout the season)
- Dublin – Monday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday
- Tel Aviv – Thursday & Sunday

Transfers from Memmingen

Taxi:
Taking roughly 2 hours, a one-way journey for 1-3 passengers will cost upwards of €270, or for 4-8 passengers €300. (Please note the current changeable cost of fuel makes it difficult to accurately quote).

Train:
First take a taxi to the main train station (a 10 minute drive). From there the train will cost €50.00, departing every 2 hours with a journey time of 2 hours 55 minutes. You’ll to change twice at Lindau and Feldkirch.
Please note that the latest train departing from Memmingen is at 20:00. Therefore inbound flights must land before 18:30 in order to make the train. When departing St Anton, the first train arrives in Memmingen at 10:00, so this mode of transport is only available for departing flights after 11:45.  
Please note that unlike Austrian & Swiss rail, paying on the train in Germany will result in a fine. Therefore either purchase your tickets at the station or online in advance. For timetables and advanced purchases visit OEBB.

Bus:
There are no transfer options via coach or bus from Memmingen airport.
